Technics EAH-A1000: new high-end circumaural Bluetooth headset with magnetic fluid transducer

Technics’ sound doctrine has been known since its beginnings: it consists of faithfully reproducing music as the artist intended, while carefully avoiding any excessive coloration. The EAH-A1000 logically continues this historical philosophy by reproducing the atmosphere of the original performance, the attack and decay of each note, as well as the sense of space. To achieve this, the manufacturer has redesigned every component of its over-ear headset, from the transducer mechanism to the diaphragm material, including the fit and sealing around the ears.

 

 

Technics EAH-A1000, 40 mm magnetic-fluid and carbon-fiber transducer During development, the brand sought to combine low-distortion reproduction with the spacious soundstage characteristic of over-ear headphones. As large-diameter transducers are more difficult to control, the EAH-A1000 incorporates a new 40 mm model (see photo below) using magnetic fluid technology, already employed on the brand’s prestigious EAH-TZ700 and EAH-AZ100 in-ear earphones.

 

 

Placed between the voice coil and the magnet, this material with both magnetic and liquid properties promotes ultra-precise movement while eliminating unwanted vibrations. To enhance these performance levels, the headset integrates an SST (Symmetrical Surround Technology, see photo below) suspension derived from Technics Hi-Fi speakers, minimizing distortion. The cone-shaped diaphragm, for its part, is made of carbon fiber, a material that cleverly combines lightness and rigidity.

 

 

Technics EAH-A1000: flat baffle, acoustic chamber and adaptive noise reduction The EAH-A1000 also benefits from a completely redesigned acoustic path. The new flat-baffle structure reduces surface irregularities to limit reflections (see left below), while an acoustic control chamber very precisely manages airflow behind the transducer in order to balance low and mid frequencies. In terms of immersion, the headset is equipped with powerful adaptive noise reduction that optimizes its performance according to the environment. Three feedforward microphones and one feedback microphone positioned on each side detect and effectively attenuate external noise. Note that phone calls benefit from optimal clarity thanks to AI-assisted beamforming.

 

 

Technics EAH-A1000: Flow Arm, long-lasting comfort, Dolby Atmos and 45 hours of battery life The design also evolves with the new Flow Arm, a one-sided structure transitioning from a square shape at the slider to a triangular shape at the hinge. The headband and upper panels, adorned with Technics’ signature circular machining, are made of metal. Comfort is based on an even distribution of pressure and high-density memory foam ear pads. Technologically, the EAH-A1000 reaches the top of the specifications: support for wireless Hi-Res Audio via the LDAC codec and wired through the USB connector (for Lossless playback), multipoint Bluetooth connectivity (up to three devices simultaneously), Dolby Atmos optimization with head movement tracking (Head Tracking), and a gargantuan battery life reaching 45 hours of continuous listening. Control is easily handled via dedicated physical buttons paired with a sliding control interface.

 

The Technics EAH-A1000 headset is already available in two colors: black and an original Greige Platinum color (combining subtle shades of gray and beige). Suggested retail price: 449 euros.
