BLU-BD4K-384 Laser: new affordable region-free 4K Ultra HD Blu-Ray player, designed for imports

Against the current of a consumer electronics industry that sees 4K Ultra HD players still available on the shelves moving toward the very high-end market, the company Laser offers an affordable alternative. Founded in 1987 in Sydney and specializing in reasonably priced technology products, the Australian brand has opened pre-orders for its very first model, the BLU-BD4K-384. Excellent news for disc collectors, especially since giants like Oppo, Samsung and LG have thrown in the towel for several years now, and Sony is on its side closing its Blu-Ray production plant for the PlayStation.

 

Laser BLU-BD4K-384, Dolby Vision compatibility and 100% region-free player The main selling point of this Laser BLU-BD4K-384 player lies in its universal approach to playback. In addition to support for 4K Ultra HD Blu-Ray discs (which are by nature free of geographic region coding), the device offers natively region-free playback for standard Blu-Ray discs and DVDs. A major argument for anyone wishing to import foreign editions without worrying about regional restrictions. Especially since the player is particularly suited to importing as it includes a universal power supply (100-240 volts), allowing it to be used in Europe with a simple plug adapter, without a power transformer.

 

 

On the image side, the player does not skimp on the essentials: it handles HDR10 streams as well as Dolby Vision HDR, with several selectable modes (Auto, Low Latency, LL RGB or Off) and Pal, NTSC and automatic modes to handle international video standards. While it skips HDR10+, the player offers an extended choice of color spaces as well as customizable picture settings and three levels of video noise reduction.

On the back of the chassis, there is only a single HDMI 2.0 output to send picture and sound to a television or amplifier, along with a simple analog stereo audio output. On the other hand, media file playback is not neglected. The USB 2.0 port, cleverly placed on the front, accepts drives and disks formatted in Fat16, Fat32 or NTFS. The technical sheet confirms support for demanding video codecs such as AVC/H.264 and HEVC (H.265), as well as playback of lossless compressed Flac audio files. On the sound section of discs, the player handles decoding of Dolby Digital, Dolby Digital Plus, Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD. Curiously, Dolby Atmos compatibility is not mentioned on the spec sheet or the product box.

 

 

The Laser BLU-BD4K-384 player, already available for pre-order, will be officially released on November 30, 2026. Announced exclusively in Australia for now, it is priced at 499.95 Australian dollars (about 310 euros).
