Apple: a halt to the AI pendant project with cameras?

A slight slowdown in Apple’s conquest of the wearable sector. Last spring, we indeed reported that the company with the apple was actively continuing development of its “camera pendant,” an AI accessory that could have seen the light of day as early as the start of next year. But according to the latest tidbits gathered by Bloomberg, work on this product has ultimately been put on hold.

 

Dual camera, continuous analysis and Siri controls As a reminder, this AI brooch would be equipped with two cameras (standard and wide-angle) whose function would be to continuously analyze the user’s surroundings (Always-on function). Also present would be microphones to capture sound, suggesting voice control via Siri AI, and features such as instant translation. A speaker would also be considered. The pendant would finally have its own processor but would mainly rely on pairing with the iPhone for optimal operation.

 

AirTag-type chassis and release compromised beyond 2027 The prototype would be similar to AirTags in shape and dimensions, with a design combining glass and aluminum complemented by a physical control button on the side. With this pause, the device will probably no longer be released in 2027, making room for other portable products currently being developed in Cupertino, such as the “Ultra” AirPods (also equipped with micro-cameras), and connected glasses.
