The macrumors site recently dug through Apple’s code lines and found an initial visual of the device there. According to this “leaked” image, its exterior design will remain strictly unchanged. A logical aesthetic conservatism for a product that has always favored discretion at the base of the television since its beginnings.
A17 Pro chip, 8 GB of RAM and Wi-Fi 7 on the agenda
The major evolution will therefore focus on the machine’s raw power. In order to locally run the complex requests of the new Siri AI voice assistant, Apple TV 4K should feature a significantly faster processor, at minimum the A17 Pro chip introduced on the iPhone 15 Pro. A welcome integration that also ensures hardware decoding of the [abc]AV1[/abc] video compression codec. Also mentioned are a doubling of the RAM (which would go from 4 GB to 8 GB of RAM), the integration of an N1 chip ensuring compatibility with the [abc]Wi-Fi[/abc] 7 standard, as well as support for [abc]Bluetooth[/abc] 6 to make the wireless connection with controllers and accessories more reliable.
A new Siri remote should also be part of the package, but note however that Siri AI is still banned in Europe, and the release of this Apple TV 4K here could therefore suffer as a result. Presentation and commercialization are logically expected for the month of October. The indicative prices of this new version are for now unknown.
