It already needs to be known that filming of the movie is currently continuing at Warner Bros. studios in Leavesden, as well as on natural sets in Glasgow and Liverpool, in the greatest secrecy. Despite this, several videos and photos taken on set have circulated, without really making it possible to know what to expect.
The Batman Part II could hold a big surprise
Robert Pattinson (The Lighthouse), who of course reprises the costume of Bruce Wayne and Batman, is now suggesting that the film could hold a real surprise. In the midst of promoting his new feature film Primetime, the actor explained to Collider that this second part would be less a simple continuation than a new reinvention of the character.
“It’s extremely ambitious. I recently said that the first one already offered a different approach to a Batman film, and this one offers yet another one... It really takes a completely unexpected direction compared to the first, while retaining certain elements of its atmosphere. But it really seems very ambitious and I can’t wait to see what it will turn out to be.”
Matt Reeves knows “exactly what he wants to do”
Matt Reeves took his time to finalize the screenplay and, according to Pattinson, the result is particularly dense, with an enormous amount of things happening simultaneously. “When you read it, the screenplay is incredibly dense. Matt is one of those directors where you immediately feel that they already have the entire film perfectly built in their head. It’s quite unusual to work with someone like that, because you sometimes forget certain little elements.
There are so many things in this screenplay that it is almost impossible to take everything in at a glance. But as you discover certain details, you think: Ah yes, actually, he knows exactly what he wants to do with this. There is something really brilliant in that.”
The Batman Part II will be released in France on 16 February 2028
If all this proves true, or even halfway true, we will already be very happy. In the meantime, the cast has enough to raise expectations. Jeffrey Wright (Westworld) reprises the role of James Gordon, Andy Serkis (The Lord of the Rings) that of Alfred Pennyworth, Colin Farrell (The Banshees of Inisherin) that of Oz Cobb, aka the Penguin, Jayme Lawson (Sinners) that of Bella Reál and Gil Perez Abraham (The Batman) that of Officer Martinez.
They will be joined by Scarlett Johansson (Lost in Translation), Sebastian Stan (The Apprentice), Charles Dance (Game of Thrones), Brian Tyree Henry (Atlanta) and German actor Sebastian Koch (The Lives of Others).
The Batman Part II will be released in French cinemas on 16 February 2028, two days before its American release.
