After setting the standard for premium connected acoustics with the Diva Utopia and Diva Mezza Utopia models, the Saint-Étienne-based manufacturer is taking another step forward in high-end audio. Focal unveils the Diva Alta Utopia, a prestigious four-way active floorstanding speaker crafted in synergy with British electronics from Naim. Designed and manufactured in France as the worthy successor to the legendary Grande Utopia, this new iteration incorporates seven drivers with the ambition of establishing itself as the pinnacle of contemporary wireless Hi-Fi.
Following in the footsteps of the brand's previous active models (see our review of the Focal Diva Utopia and our news on the Focal Diva Mezza Utopia), this "Alta" version pushes the concept of integration to its extreme. Designed to do away with traditional separate electronics and unsightly cables, it combines amplification and network processing within a single column. The manufacturer's goal is to offer absolutely pure musical and cinematic reproduction in the living room, without requiring any wired connection between the two speakers. Diva Alta Utopia: seven drivers, Prism and W cone. To power this exceptional column, the French engineers developed a particularly sophisticated four-way acoustic architecture. At the heart of the system is the iconic W membrane, featured on four 20cm woofers arranged on the sides in a push-push configuration, a front-facing mid-bass driver and, a first for the Utopia range, an M-profile mid-driver. High frequencies also take a leap forward with the unprecedented introduction of Prism technology, combined with the IAL2 pure beryllium tweeter for extreme smoothness and extension. This configuration allows for a wide and detailed soundstage, tailor-made to fully express itself in very large rooms, ranging from 50 m² to 120 square meters.
Diva Alta Utopia, Naim 600W electronics and Adapt calibration. For control, each speaker incorporates four Naim Audio amplification modules delivering a total power of 600W in pure Class AB. The digital processing integrates the Naim Pulse platform, offering unprecedented personalization: the Adapt acoustic correction system adjusts the sound to the room and the user's hearing perception, who can also modify the sound texture and manage the mechanical alignment of the speakers (Focus Time) directly from the app. The wireless connection between the speakers is established via uncompressed UWB technology (96 kHz/24-bit), capable of handling 192 kHz/24-bit signals via the included Hi-Res cable. Diva Alta Utopia, felt or high-gloss lacquer finishes. Aesthetically, the Diva Alta Utopia makes a strong and sculptural statement. It integrates seamlessly into even the most discerning interiors thanks to a choice of exclusive finishes: Grey or Ivory felt, as well as high-gloss lacquer in Black, Off White, and Dune. Its interchangeable floating side panels, a signature of its unique character, allow you to change the speaker's aesthetics as you wish: felt or high-gloss lacquer finishes, without having to replace the speaker. The iconic Utopia design elements are present, such as the "watch" formed by the tweeter and its anodized aluminum band. Available immediately. Suggested retail price: from €190,000 per pair in felt finish.
