The BBC is stronger than Netflix

While the streaming giant is gaining ground in homes, some national institutions remain reliable sources of entertainment for the public.
Last May, YouGov conducted a survey in the UK to learn more about British media consumption. Books ahead of Instagram? The results show that television is the leading platform, with 70% of respondents watching it weekly. This is followed by social media at 67%, and streaming platforms at 64%. It's worth noting, however, that TV primarily reaches an older audience, while the opposite is true for the other types of services. In terms of consumption volume, 70% of respondents spend between 1 and 4 hours a day consuming media, including 29% who spend 2 to 3 hours, and 19% who spend more than 4 hours. Regarding the specific type of consumption, the BBC is watched at least once a week by 62% of Britons, followed by Netflix at 55%, and… reading books at 46%, ahead of Instagram (43%). That's encouraging.
