A car veers off the road, slides down a 100-meter slope, and bursts into flames… The consequences would undoubtedly have been fatal without the iPhone.
Accident detection, a feature introduced in 2022 on the iPhone 14, has already helped save lives. The iPhone automatically triggers an emergency call after a 100-meter fall. And that's not all: last June, a woman went off the road in Denbighshire, UK. Her car plunged 100 meters down a slope before crashing to the ground below, bursting into flames. Without hesitation, her iPhone detected the accident and immediately called emergency services. Rapid response from emergency services in the middle of the night thanks to Apple's geolocation. Emergency services arrived 20 minutes later, despite the darkness and the difficult-to-access location. The driver spent four months in the hospital and had to undergo several operations, but is aware of her good fortune: "I'm grateful to Apple for what the iPhone did," she told the BBC. "I don't think I could have gotten help so quickly."
