They took selfies in space

These guys are taking an iPhone into space for the first time, and they're taking pictures with… the selfie camera. Help.
From April 1st to 11th, 2026, the four astronauts of the Artemis mission will orbit the Moon before returning to Earth. They are accompanied on this incredible adventure by their trusty iPhones. A first in the history of space travel. Extraterrestrial selfie! And as expected, photos taken with Apple's smartphone are already available on NASA's website. Superb photos, captured with the iPhone 17 Pro Max, we learn, and more specifically via the device's selfie camera. A misstep at first glance, considering that the main sensors are significantly more powerful than the simple 18 MP front-facing camera. Nevertheless, the image quality testifies to the power of this basic selfie camera. Even though the photos have been slightly retouched, the capture itself was done with default settings. Impressive indeed, although we hope the astronauts will take advantage of this unique opportunity to fully exploit the capabilities of their smartphones.
