iPad: already the 16th anniversary of the tablet that created a market

At the beginning of April, the iPad celebrated its sixteenth anniversary. A tribute to a device that truly created the tablet market, of which it is still the leader.
After Apple's 50th anniversary on April 1st, this month seems to be dedicated to the manufacturer's anniversaries. Announced by Steve Jobs in January 2010 and launched on April 3 of the same year, the iPad recently celebrated its sixteenth anniversary. From the 2004 prototype to the 2010 keynote, the genesis of a visionary product. At the time, many doubted the usefulness of such a device, a kind of very large iPhone with enormous bezels around the 9.7-inch screen, boasting a resolution of 1024 x 768 pixels. But the tablet quickly won over the public, prompting competitors like Samsung and Microsoft to launch their own models in quick succession. As a side note, the iPad already existed as a prototype in Apple's labs as early as 2004, three years before the iPhone's release, but Steve Jobs had preferred to prioritize the development of his famous smartphone. A complete family, from the standard iPad to the iPad Pro and beyond... The iPad Air and the Mini: Having literally created the tablet market, the iPad has always dominated it, with a market share of 44.9% in the last quarter of 2025, followed by Samsung with 14.7%. The iPad is now available in several models, from the low-priced standard version to the ultra-powerful iPad Pro, including the ultra-slim iPad Air and the small iPad Mini.
