A new update for TCL's Google TVs adds significant improvements, including DTS:X IMAX Enhanced compatibility on Disney+.
TCL is preparing an imminent update for its 2024/2025 TV models compatible with Google TV and equipped with the MediaTek Pentonic 700 chip (C805, C845, C855, C6K, C7K, C8K, NxtVision), starting with the upgrade from Android 12 to Android 14. An upgrade to keep pace with the new 2026 models equipped with Android 14 from the outset, the operating system being notably compatible with optimized power consumption modes and Picture-in-Picture mode. Another addition is the HDMI 2.1 QMS (Quick Media Switching) feature for smooth refresh rate changes without a black screen, for example, switching from 24Hz content (movie, series) to 60Hz content, via a compatible device like the Apple TV 4K.
