Personalized podcasts on PlayStation, thanks to AI?

Filed in 2024 by Sony and recently published (so not yet granted), a patent describes a "tailor-made" podcast that plays when you turn on your PlayStation, based on your gaming history: recommendations, trophies, recent information about your online friends, relevant news… A podcast featuring characters from your favorite games! As an added bonus, the podcast could be presented in audio or video by one (or two) video game characters, perhaps from a title you've recently played. Naturally, artificial intelligence would be used extensively to create this unique, personalized content based on your data and generate the presenters' voices. Sony explains, "Video game platforms currently lack the ability to offer players unique and targeted content to keep them informed about events happening on the platform." Although it is currently only a patent, this document nevertheless sheds light on the ideas circulating among video game giants, who are apparently excited by the new possibilities offered by artificial intelligence.
