Firstly, it will be the first time this component is not supplied by Sony, and secondly, it will be the first time it is manufactured in the United States. Indeed, these sensors will be produced at Samsung's factory in Austin, Texas. The Korean manufacturer will install specific production equipment at this factory and has already posted job openings for the engineers needed for the project. This sensor will also be a first for a consumer product, utilizing a three-layer design for better low-light performance, a wider dynamic range, and improved energy efficiency.
