First official image of Sophie Turner as Lara Croft

Amazon MGM Studios has unveiled the first official look at Sophie Turner (of Game of Thrones fame) as Lara Croft in the new live-action Tomb Raider series, coming to Prime Video.
We admit it: on paper, the look, the silhouette, and even the face could have raised some doubts. But in the end, it works, and even more than well. The first image reveals a Lara Croft who clearly embraces an old-school inspiration, very close to the very first games in the saga, much more so than recent reboots. Production of the series is set to begin very soon in the United Kingdom. The photo comes from a costume test, and the character's design directly references the iconic codes of the original Lara Croft. New Tomb Raider series: rumors and casting. The series, announced in January 2023, is expected to present Lara Croft as an already established adventurer and archaeologist, with a decidedly 1990s inspiration. Rumors suggest a plot linked to Norse mythology and Ragnarök, without establishing a direct connection to Tomb Raider: Underworld, which was already marked by this theme. Alongside Sophie Turner, the cast includes Sigourney Weaver, Jason Isaacs, Martin Bobb-Semple, Bill Paterson, Jack Bannon, John Heffernan, Celia Imrie, Paterson Joseph, Sasha Luss, Juliette Motamed, and August Wittgenstein. Created by Phoebe Waller-Bridge, who also serves as executive producer, the Tomb Raider series is expected to premiere on Amazon Prime Video in 2027.
