iPhone Air 2 delayed until 2027?

While it was expected in the fall of 2026, the second generation of iPhone Air could be delayed until spring 2027, for reasons that remain contradictory. Details.
Often well-informed, the aptly named website The Information (via macrumors) recently reported that disappointing sales of the new iPhone Air—Apple's thinnest smartphone—have prompted the manufacturer to delay the release of the second version. The site, however, published clarifications (bordering on a denial) a few days later, explaining that this delay would be due more to improvements to the device than to its sales performance. The Information corroborates other rumors claiming the addition of an extra camera sensor to the back of the next iPhone Air. A technical feat in the making, since the camera module protrusion already contains almost all of the iPhone Air's components, the rest of the device being occupied by the battery. It is this challenge that could potentially delay the second generation of iPhone Air. Thus, rather than being released alongside the iPhone 18 Pro and the first foldable iPhone, the iPhone Air 2 would arrive in the spring with the iPhone 18 and iPhone 18e, in line with Apple's new release schedule already mentioned by numerous insiders.
