Will the next iPad Mini be water-resistant?

Like its big brother the iPhone, the new iPad Mini could benefit from a higher protection rating to resist water.
According to the latest leaks gathered by Bloomberg, Apple is working on a water-resistant version of the iPad Mini. With a casing similar to that of the iPhone, the device could be used safely in humid environments, such as a bathroom or by a pool. Apple has apparently created a new type of speaker for the iPad, using vibration-based technology that eliminates the surface perforations, a major weakness when it comes to water. The iPhone uses a different technology, based on seals and adhesives to protect perforations and other entry points. While Apple's smartphone is IP68 certified, capable of surviving immersion up to 6 meters deep for 30 minutes, it is not yet known if the iPad Mini will be as water-resistant.
