As promised in our news on the Yamaha YH-C3000 headphones, we're back to the other headphones presented a few weeks ago by the Japanese manufacturer, the YH-4000, an open model descending from the long Orthodynamic tradition which has its origins in the 1970s.
Yamaha's new YH-4000 open-back over-ear headphones, made in the group's Kakegawa factory in Japan, immediately impress with their lightweight magnesium construction (only 320g), dual headband, and tilt-swivel mechanism inherited from the elite YH-5000SE. Yamaha YH-4000, Orthodynamic Planar Magnetic Driver££££ The Orthodynamic planar magnetic driver technology introduced by Yamaha in the 1970s continues with a modernized version, equipping the diaphragm (round shape) with conductive coils on both sides, as well as finely undulating wave-like patterns on their surface. The result is drivers that are lighter than usual, reproducing more sonic details. Also noteworthy are micro-perforated dampers on both sides to control air movement. The YH-4000 also features a new woven PET (polyethylene terephthalate) mesh filter that regulates the internal pressure of the shell, and there is an arch-shaped protrusion that acts as a reflector to improve sonic accuracy.
A word from Yuta Ito, acoustic designer££££ "We believe the YH-4000 is an innovative new model that expands the sonic potential of the Orthodynamic driver. For the YH-4000, we sought to create a sound that emphasizes the power and volume of the bass, but also and especially the midrange, reproducing the realism and essential substance of vocals. Finally, we are confident that you will be able to feel the artist's passion and fire with the YH-4000." A word from Kazuki Kashiwase, Product Designer££££ "The YH-4000 takes and continues the design of the YH-5000SE, while offering a more accessible and familiar feel. Unlike the YH-5000SE's distinctive black and yellow exterior color, the YH-4000 sports a monochrome black and silver finish that highlights the colors of the materials. It offers a sophisticated simplicity that naturally integrates with any style and a design that will make you want to use these headphones for a long time." Finally, we note premium ear cushions using two materials: high-quality artificial suede on the inner surface and flexible PU leather (synthetic leather that imitates the feel of leather) around the outer edge. Comes with a dedicated carrying case, an asymmetrical silver OFC cable (2 m and 3.5 mm plug with 6.35 mm adapter) the Yamaha YH 4000 is available. Indicative price: 2,499 euros.
