The new Amazon Luna arrives: video games go social

Amazon announces significant improvements to its Luna Cloud Gaming service, integrated into the Prime subscription.

Launched in 2022, the [abc]streaming[/abc] game service Luna will improve by the end of the year. “How can we reimagine Luna so that it’s not just a different place to play, but also a place to play video games differently and a place to play different games?” said Jeff Gattis, general manager of Amazon Luna.

The big new feature is GameNight mode, a selection of “social party games” that can be played by several people together in the same living room. Everyone’s smartphone easily becomes a controller for TV-centric experiences, the kind that made Nintendo successful with the Wii. 25 dedicated multiplayer titles will be available at launch, including optimized versions of games like Angry Birds, Draw & Guess, Exploding Kittens and Flappy Golf Party, and board game adaptations such as Taboo, Ticket to Ride and Cluedo.

The new Luna will also offer many new big games, with new releases regularly, all included with Prime at no additional cost. It is also possible to subscribe to Luna Premium to access bigger titles like EA Sports FC 25, Lego DC Super-Villains, Team Sonic Racing or Batman: Arkham Knight.
