The model that will celebrate the 20th anniversary of the iPhone could be equipped with an even more powerful and less energy-hungry screen.
According to indiscretions gathered by the Korean media ET News, Apple would like to give the iPhone 19, planned for 2027 for the twentieth anniversary of the iPhone, a new type of [abc]Oled[/abc] screen, thinner, brighter, more resistant and less power-hungry. Oled screen with COE technology for the iPhone 19 ?££££ This screen, developed over the past three years by Apple and its partners, consists of removing the polarizing layer from the Oled panel which currently prevents light from "bleeding" on its surface. It is based on a technology called Color Filter on Encapsulation (COE), a filter that reduces reflections and makes the polarizing layer obsolete. Such a screen would thus be thinner, would let more light filter through thanks to increased transparency and would contribute to increasing battery life, knowing that the current polarizing layer darkens the screen in addition to consuming energy to operate. Initially, this technology was planned for next year's foldable iPhone, so it might not arrive until 2027. Note that other manufacturers are also on the lookout, and COE technology could arrive on the market before Apple, particularly on a Samsung phone.
