In mid-August, YouTube will roll out a new age detection feature to selected users in the United States. In short, YouTube's AI will be able to tell if you're a minor, regardless of the date of birth entered.

To reach its conclusion, the AI analyzes various factors such as user activity or the length of time the account used has existed. Basically, if you spend your time watching children's programs, you risk being categorized as such and redirected to a minor's account. As a reminder, YouTube's "under 18" accounts offer various restrictions and features, such as blocking prohibited videos, non-personalized ads, notifications to take breaks, or a limit on the recommendation of sensitive topics.
If YouTube ever mistakenly considers you a minor, you can object provided you provide proof of your age.
