Hidden camera in the Apple Watch?

A new patent granted to Apple explains how a camera could be hidden under a screen.

"Electronic devices with two-tiered displays" is the title of a patent recently granted to Apple, explaining how a camera lens and flash could be integrated into a display. In short, the document describes a display composed of several layers, each with its own function, including an outer layer with variable opacity pixels, capable of letting light through or blocking it completely.

The camera and flash would thus be present in the inner layer, but would remain hidden by the outer layer, only appearing when they are in use. While the patent is primarily illustrated by the Apple Watch, such technology could naturally be applied to iPhones, Macs, and any device with a display.
