Apple is monopolizing the smartphone market, making it difficult for Americans to switch to a competing manufacturer… This is essentially what a complaint filed in March 2024 by a dozen US states and the DoJ, the US Department of Justice (no less) against Apple says.

Not wanting the case to reach a court of justice, Apple requested a dismissal from a federal judge a few months ago, a request that was rejected, Reuters recently reported. In fact, even if this case will only be concluded in a few years, it will take place.
Next step, Apple will respond to the initial DoJ complaint and both parties will have a certain amount of time to present the documents necessary for their arguments, expert testimony, depositions, etc. Then there will be a summary hearing with additional arguments, before the trial itself, which should take place in 2028 at the latest.
