Does he regret creating the iPhone?

Jonathan Ive, aka Jony Ive, a key designer formerly at Apple and co-creator of the iPhone, regrets some of the unexpected consequences of the famous smartphone.

A key contributor to iconic devices - iPod, iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch among others - industrial designer Jony Ive has been a pillar of Apple since 1997. He then left the company in 2019 to found his own design firm, LoveFrom.

If Ive had known…££££

In an interview with Patrick Collison, Ive recently expressed some regrets about the iPhone, the project that launched the major smartphone era from 2007. On the current unhealthy obsession with smartphones and social media, he explains: "Some of the products that I've contributed a lot to have had, I think, unintended consequences that were not pleasant. My problem is that even if there was no malicious intent, I think there was still some responsibility, and that weighs on me."

It is therefore probably out of a desire for redemption that Ive is currently working on a new device in line with the new era of artificial intelligence, without a screen, like Humane's AI Pin, and designed to replace smartphones. Not sure that this will be enough to make mobiles obsolete one day, but you never know.
