Apple TV application soon to be more ergonomic

In December 2023 Apple should update tvOS (17.2) in order to clarify and centralize the video offers on the Apple TV box, in addition to a new navigation menu.

According to indiscretions collected by Mark Gurman of Bloomberg, Apple should deploy a major update of the tvOS operating system for Apple TV next December. Main goal, to facilitate the understanding of the multiple video offers by centralizing them in the “TV” application.

New Apple TV application, improved ergonomics

Apple thus wants the user to focus on the TV app, which already contains purchased series and films, Apple TV+ content, and third-party services to which one can subscribe. To this end, Apple will eliminate scattered Apple TV applications and transfer their purchase and subscription offers into the TV app, which will thus centralize all content and offers. Incidentally, the films and series sections of the iTunes Store on iPhone and iPad will be eliminated.

New Apple TV application, additional side menu

The TV app will also see its redesigned design, closer to the ergonomics of Netflix, with a side panel to navigate between different categories (see screenshot of tvOS 17.2 beta 1 above) signed by our colleagues flatpanelshd. Navigation will thus be simplified and less confusing for the user, who will be able to easily distinguish Apple TV+ content from that requiring a separate subscription.
