37 billion mobile applications downloaded in the first quarter

Big growth for the App Store and Google Play which provide more and more applications to avid consumers.

According to the latest data from the firm Sensor Tower, the total number of downloads from the two main online stores -App Store and Google Play- amounted to 36.8 billion in the first quarter of 2022, i.e. 1.1% of better compared to the same period last year.

+1.2% for the App Store, +1.1% for Google Play

In detail, the App Store totaled 8.5 billion downloads this quarter, an increase of 1.2%, and Google Play reached 28.3 billion (there are many more Android devices on the market than iPhone and iPad), or 1.1% better than last year.

TikTok tops downloads

The most downloaded app globally is TikTok, coming first on App Store and third on Google Play. Next come Instagram, Facebook and WhatsApp. On the games side, the first is Garena Free Fire, at the top of the Google Play ranking but not even in the Top 10 App Store. It is followed by Subway Surfers (also first on the App Store) and Merge Master (also absent from the Top 10 App Store).
