DAB in 90% of new cars in France

DAB+ digital radio is becoming more and more of a standard, before the planned disappearance of FM in two years.

According to the latest figures from WorldDAB, the association responsible for promoting DAB digital radio, 95% of new cars sold in Europe in 2021 were equipped with DAB+ digital radio.

European Electronic Communications Code and DAB+

This impressive figure reflects the integration into national legislation of the European Electronic Communications Code which requires that all car radios in Europe be capable of receiving digital terrestrial radio. 13 of the 15 largest car markets in Europe now have more than 90% of new cars equipped with DAB+, France for its part showing exactly 90%. Note that key markets such as Germany, Switzerland and France are already preparing to deactivate the FM format in 2024.
