LG HU710P CineBeam Ultra HD 4K, laser/LED projector (red and blue)

The new CineBeam has arrived and it's called LG HU710P. Borrowing the shape of the LG HU810P which appeared in 2020, although less bulky, the background differs significantly with a hybrid system as a light source, a mix between blue laser and LED (blue and red).

Ultra HD 4K model, the LG HU710P CineBeam therefore has a blue laser source associated with a phosphor wheel to generate the color Green (G), plus two LEDs for the colors Red and Blue (R, B). In the end, the brightness is announced at 2,000 lumens, 20,000 hours for the lifespan.

Key Features

The coverage is given for 96% of the DCI-P3 gamut with 10-bit color processing for optimal quality.

TrueMotion motion compensation is included, as well as the Android/iOS Screen Mirroring function and the Smart TV WebOS 6.0 platform giving access to Netflix, Amazon, YouTube… The use of mono-DLP technology with a 0.47'' DMD chip and XPR4 process is present, for a remarkable contrast of 2,000,000:1. As a reminder, the Texas Instrument XPR -wobulation- processing carried out using a 1,920 x 1,080 pixel section of the 0.47'' (1.19 cm) DMD chip, which has 2,048 x 1,200 pixels, puts contribution the hyper-high switching speed of the mirrors (7 micro-seconds) via specific video processing to create 8 million pixels for each image displayed (one real pixel ultimately gives four pixels), the resolution necessary for 4K UHD definition.

Similarly for HDR compatibility HLG, HDR10 and HGiG (HDR Gaming Interest Group) are required. Also worth mentioning is the Filmmaker mode.

The LG HU710P is therefore presented, like the HU810P, in the form of a relatively compact classic video projector, allowing implementation on the ceiling within a dedicated room, for example via the x1 zoom .6 for a maximum image of 300'' (762 cm) with horizontal (+/- 24%) and vertical (+/- 60%) Lens Shift adjustment. Operating noise is 28 dB (26 dB in Eco mode).

Connectivity and integrated audio section

The connection has three HDMI inputs, two of which are 2.1 (24 Gbps bandwidth). One of them is eARC and ALLM compatible. Finally, the third is in HDMI 2.0 format. There is also an optical output, two USB Host 2.0 and an Ethernet port. The stereo audio section delivers 2 x 5 watts of power.

Over to Seo Young-jae, senior vp and LG IT business unit manager

"More and more consumers appreciate being able to watch their favorite content like in the cinema, which is why the home projector segment is experiencing such growth," said Seo Young-jae, senior vice president and head of LG's IT business unit. Specifically designed for movie buffs and the residential market, LG CineBeam delivers exceptional brightness, excellent picture and sound quality, and a choice of the most popular streaming apps on WebOS. Anyone considering building or upgrading a home theater system will not be disappointed with an LG CineBeam projector.”

Scheduled availability for the month of March. Indicative price still unknown but, according to our exchanges with some resellers, it should be around 2,500 euros.
