New label "Perfect for PlayStation 5" also for TV Sony Bravia XH90 and X80J / X85J

The new label "Perfect for PlayStation 5", with extended possibilities compared to the 2020 version, announced by the Japanese manufacturer for a selection of its 2021 TVs will also soon be available for the entire 2021 range plus the Sony XH90 series vintage 2020.

Asked by our colleagues at Flatpanelshd.com, the firm Sony announced at the end of last week that the two new features Perfect for PlayStation 5 Auto HDR Tone Mapping and Auto Genre Picture Mode (see our news New features "Perfect for PlayStation 5 ”for Sony Bravia 2021 TV), shown below would also be available for the 2021 Sony X85J and Sony X80J TV series. And that this would also concern the 2020 Sony XH90 TV series (and its versions XH81, XH84…).

Unofficial Auto HDR Tone Mapping and Auto Genre Picture Mode functions

With a difference in size, the Sony X80J, Sony X85J and Sony XH90 TV series will not be able to officially claim the Perfect for PlayStation 5 Auto HDR Tone Mapping and Auto Genre Picture Mode features, the new “Perfect for PlayStation 5” label involving other specifications not found in these series. Their Perfect for PlayStation 5 Auto HDR Tone Mapping and Auto Genre Picture Mode certification will therefore be unofficial.

If you click on the previous link, you will see that the functionalities associated with this new firmware on the Chinese site are indeed ignored in France…

Future-proof Sony communication?

Without doubt Sony's last chronological response to Flatpannels corresponds to the new update planned by the manufacturer, announced later this year and during a first exchange with our colleagues at the beginning of October (see end of our news related to our link just above), following the bugs that appeared on the update proposed in China. And undoubtedly, this one will embed a fix for the bugs of VRR / ALLM functions of Sony XH90 TVs. We are repeating ourselves but the saga of software updates for Sony XH90xx TVs is not yet close to being over…
